Shiloh UMC in Gilbert, SC., launched its first Saturday service, also known as “The Awakening Service,” several weeks ago, on January 23 at 5:00pm. It took place in the Fellowship Hall as planned, and as we gathered together in worship the Spirit of God was surely present among us. Evelyn Healy led us into worship with a beautiful rendition of It Is Well. We then moved into a community reading of Scripture as one, which was followed by a powerful message delivered by Pastor Christopher Greene. The ambience was just as moving, as the service was lit by candlelight with a fire crackling in the background.
Prior to this past weekend’s gathering, on January 30th, the “Awakening Service” experienced its first transition. We naturally planned on having another “Awakening Service” in the fellowship hall, but God had other plans. Our Lord had reserved the fellowship as part of a beautiful funeral service, thus directing the Awakening Service towards Shiloh’s sanctuary. This service was even more intimate than Shiloh’s first Saturday service, showing us that God is surely directing our paths. Proverbs 3:6 [ESV] In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
The Awakening Services will be held in the Shiloh UMC Sanctuary every Saturday from 5:00pm – 6:00pm. All are welcome! – “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” (Isaiah 55:1 [ESV])
